Wind & Storm Damage
Wind, hurricane, and tornado damage claim management and settlement negotiation.
Wind claims are decided on the roof. The carrier sends an adjuster who photographs a few lifted shingles, calls the rest wear and tear, and writes an estimate for a repair that will not match, will not hold, and will not be accepted by a roofer. Santa Ana winds in Southern California, downslope windstorms in Reno, fall windstorms in Spokane and hurricanes across the Gulf states all produce the same dispute: how much of the damage did the wind do, and how much of the roof does the policy owe.
Repair versus replacement
A roof is a system. When wind lifts and creases shingles, it breaks the seal on the surrounding courses and the fasteners holding them. Replacing the shingles that blew off leaves a roof that leaks at the next storm and voids the manufacturer's warranty. Many policies, and many state regulations, require the carrier to pay for matching materials or a full slope when a repair cannot reasonably match. We document the damage course by course, with the roofer's findings and manufacturer specifications, and we hold the carrier to the matching obligation.
Wind-driven rain and interior damage
When wind opens the roof or a window, the rain that follows damages ceilings, insulation, walls and floors. Carriers often pay the roof and deny the interior as 'water damage' or 'pre-existing leaks.' Wind-driven rain through storm-created openings is a covered loss under nearly every policy. We tie the interior damage to the storm event with inspection evidence, weather data for the date of loss and the physical path of the water.
Trees, fences, solar and outbuildings
Tree strikes damage roofs, structures, vehicles and fencing, and tree removal has its own coverage and limits. Solar arrays, carports, patio covers, sheds and fences are each covered under specific policy provisions, often with separate limits for other structures. We make sure every damaged item is claimed under the coverage that applies to it.

Wind & Storm Damage: common questions
Get the roof inspected by someone who works for you. Wind damage has a signature: creased, lifted and displaced shingles with broken seal strips, typically on the windward slopes. Age and wear look different. With the roofer's findings and the weather record for the date of loss, that denial is frequently reversed.
It depends on the policy, the state, and whether a repair can match. Where the shingle line is discontinued or the repair would be visibly different, many policies and state rules require replacement of the slope or the whole roof. We review the matching provisions in your policy and the applicable regulations.
Yes, when the water entered through an opening the storm created. Carriers try to separate the interior as a water claim subject to exclusions. The interior damage is part of the wind claim, and we document it that way.
Usually yours, for the damage to your property, and your carrier may pursue the neighbor's insurer afterward. Tree removal is covered up to a limit when the tree damaged a covered structure. Document the damage before the tree is removed.
Yes. We are licensed in Texas, Georgia, Virginia and other coastal states and have handled hurricane losses for residential and commercial clients. Hurricane claims often carry a separate percentage deductible, which we account for in the scope.
